About Bandar Utama

Bandar Utama is a residential establishment found within the Damansara municipality of the Petaling District, in Selangor, Malaysia. It is a mixed residential area and host of the famous One Utama Shopping Centre.

Bandar Utama, along with the nearby Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara, belongs to the area PJU6 of Petaling Jaya. Ever since 2004, it is estimated that there are 59,040 residents in Bandar Utama.

The main residents seem to be Chinese, followed by Indians and Malay. These were previously neighboring squatter establishments of illegal immigrants in the nearby village of Kayu Ara, which is nestled by Damansara Utama and Bandar Utama. These have been moved for the most part to neighboring low-cost units and their squatter homes were demolished to allow the building of legal residences.
